Big news! As of this
afternoon, we have air conditioning “coach-wide!” We dropped the coach off at 8 a.m. with the
assurance the 2-hour installation of the new air conditioner would be finished
by 1 p.m. We got it back at 4:30. Oh
well, at least we’re finally past this ongoing crisis.
Rather than sit around the repair shop we sentenced
ourselves to Maxwell’s tight interior and visited the Train Museum here in
Elkhart. They have a nice model-train display with lots of detail like a small
plane crash on a mountainside, a circus in full swing, and a mock up of
Elkhart’s historic downtown. There are four trains dashing around this
make-believe landscape, passing each other going in opposite directions and
zooming over railroad bridges and mountain tops. We wished we had “rented” a
little kid to share this experience.
Outside were several locomotives and a few train cars. One of the big steam loco’s looked like it
could be operational but a closer examination determined it was pretty well
past its prime. I don’t expect it will
ever run again.
Here are a few photos of the trains and the photos of Jim’s new
Corvette.
We’re tired, so that’s it for now
.
