First Officer’s Entry:
Here we are
in Hillman, Michigan, at the Thunder Bay Golf & RV Resort.
This is a
real resort. It is very nice with only
23 RV spots, all of which are grass with trees, full hook-up, pull-throughs. We are overlooking the golf course and hoping
not to get hit with any sliced drives.
(That’s golfer talk for a ball that curves around and aims itself at the
most expensive thing in its sight.)
Hillman is
about 30 miles west of Alpena wherein we are booked on a cruise on a glass
bottom boat tomorrow to go see some of the many shipwrecks in this area. It seems the name “Thunder Bay” is a
byproduct of the gosh-awful weather here that can spring up at a moment’s
notice without any notice and do really bad things to boats and ships, like
sink them. (www.AlpenaShipWreckTours.com)
The trip up
here (230 miles) was uneventful other than the chassis air-conditioner blower
motor started screaming again. I thought
I had fixed that thing, (twice), but nooooooooo. So I called the manufacturer of the
air-conditioner used in this Ford RV chassis and ordered a new motor. The plan is that the motor SHOULD
be at the parts house tomorrow and “Dave” SHOULD be able to ship it
overnight to the next RV Park we are booked into and it SHOULD be waiting
for us when we arrive there.
Note the use
of “SHOULD”. I give the plan about a 50% chance of
actually working. I figure we will be
three states away when the motor actually arrives at the RV park.
And the fun
just never stops.
Captain’s Entry:
The online
reviews of the boat trip we’re taking tomorrow make it sound about “as good as
it gets.” I think both Frank and I are worn out from trekking around the
museums for the past two days, so this will be all for today. We should have
some photos for you after tomorrow’s boat ride.
End Log.
